Originally constructed in stone masonry, Tansa Dam was strengthened by Coyne's method. The Dam structure was anchored to the foundation rock by 2,400 high tensile prestressed cables (80 tonnes final stress).These were laid through 65 mm. diameter holes drilled in the body of the dam. These holes were then grouted. The total length of the cables was 73,000m.
