The tunnel is 4000 meters long constructed for single line board gauge railway, at Berdewadi in Ratanagiri (South) section. The cross sectional area is 34 sq.m. in linear reach. A special feature of this tunnel is the ballastless track with Precast, Prestressed concrete sleepers in the entire tunnel. Two boom hydraulic Atlas Copco drilling jumbo and an electric hydraulic Haglund loader of capacity 3 cu.m. per minute were utilised for Tunnel excavation alongwith 10 tonnes Leyland comet rear dump trucks for mucking. The Company was awarded the 'Best Quality Construction' award in Konkan Railway for 1993-94.
