Project Overview

A R.C.C. Intake tower with an approach bridge was constructed in the Koyna Lake at the entrance of Koyna Stage I Head Race Tunnel. The structure consists of three main piers which accommodate the two gate slots and nine columns. These are stiffened by braces. The central pier supports the last span of the Approach Bridge. The lower part of the structure has six bays in which the trash racks are lowered. An R.C.C. hoist frame for lifting the gates is located in the Gate House over the deck slab.
