This Lotus shaped building is 100m. diameter, 30m. high, totally enclosed and fully air-conditioned. The main roof dome of the stadium has 32 sets of alternating radial ridges and valleys to give it a servated effect. It is supported by a complex system of criss-crossed structural steel roof truss with pressed steel purlins and clad by aluminium roofing sheets. The central compression ring is 15m. diameter comprising of a central cylinder and ring trusses. There are no intermediate columns, thus allowing full visibility in the entire enclosed area. The building has complex architectural features with precast fluted wall units. The sports arena of 2100 sq.m. is provided with elastic wooden flooring.It has a seating capacity of 7,000 persons and an adjoining dormitory cum club house building. It is a multipurpose facility for all types of indoor sports and games as well as concerts, seminars and other social and cultural events.
