This two-storied building set in scenic mountaneous surroundings and has beautiful Bhutanese architectural features. The Royal Government of Bhutan envisaged to create a multipurpose facility to hold international conferences like SAARC, to provide office space for the Planning Commission and the Ministry of Finance.
Extensive use of team wood has been made along with traditional Bhutanese paintings and building finishes. The centre provides a main assembly hall for 300 persons with; a gallery of 100 seats for media, projection rooms, four simultaneous interpretation systems, and a stage for holding cultural shows or music concerts. Other services include central air-conditioning and heating systems, fire fighting, horticultural landscaping and specialized lighting to ease viewing of the 70mm color screen. The most challenging aspect of this job was incorporating modern amenities with Bhutanese architectural features.
