Project Overview

Tapovan Vishnugad Hydro Electric Power Project is located in the Uttaranchal Himalayas (Part of Western Himalayas) in Chamoli District of Uttaranchal about 280 km from Rishikesh on NH-58. The project is located on left bank of river Dhauliganga / Alaknanada, barrage site being on river Dhauliganga & TRT outlet on river Alaknanada. It comprises of constructing a 70 m wide barrage across river Dhauliganga. A 12.3 km long HRT on left bank of river conveys water to an underground powerhouse. Water from the powerhouse is discharged into river Alaknanada through a 510 m long Tail Race Tunnel. All components of the project are located on the left bank of river Dhauligang/Alaknanada
